Saint MELECE, archevêque d'Antioche, président des premières sessions du deuxième concile oecuménique au cours duquel il mourut (381). (Office traduit en français par le père Denis Guillaume au tome II des Ménées.)
San Melezio, vescovo di Antiochia, ripetutamente cacciato in esilio per la fede nicena e morto mentre presiedeva il  Concilio Ecumenico di Costantinopoli. Ricevette gli elogi di San Gregorio di Nissa e san Giovanni Crisostomo. 

Melezio, vescovo di Antiochia, che per la sua fede nicena fu ripetutamente mandato esilio e poi, mentre presiedeva il Concilio Ecumenico Costantinopolitano , passò al Signore; di lui san Gregorio di Nissa e san Giovanni Crisostomo celebrarono le virtù con somme lodi.

aaaLuminaire de l'Orthodoxie et modèle de vie évangélique, homme de paix et de réconciliation, Saint Mélèce fut un des principaux artisans de la restauration de l'unité de l'Eglise qui, malgré les décisions du Concile de Nicée (325), continua d'être douloureusement déchirée pendant tout le IVe siècle par les séquelles de l'hérésie d'Arius.

Saint Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Russia the Wonderworker (in the world Eleutherius), was born in the year 1292 (or according to another source, 1304) at Moscow into the family of the noble Theodore Byakont, a descendant of the Chernigov princely line.
